JUSTSEN ENERGITEKNIK A/S - Denmark are having great success in exporting Green Technology to the Central American market.
Via a Spanish partner company, with a well-established network in Central America, JUSTSEN are utilizing their expertise by implementing large-scale boiler plants burning various types of biofuels.
Currently JUSTSEN is shipping boiler systems for the Dominican Republic and Honduras.
The boiler systems are going to supply steam to the energy demanding textile industry for process purposes, and replace boiler systems that currently is using heavy fuel oil as main energy source. Each of the two boiler systems consists of two boiler lines, producing 2 x 20 tonnes/hour of saturated steam corresponding to a heating capacity of 2 x 13 MW. The biofuel based boiler systems are saving 2.9 tonnes of heavy fuel oil per hour at full capacity.
The systems represent a great leap forward for the environment, by utilizing a carbon-neutral energy source as well as emitting significantly less sulphur dioxide.
Financially the boiler systems is a great leap forward the owners of the plants, as the fuel will be provided free of charge and only the freight costs are to be covered. The fuels will be rice husks and other types of biomass, which would otherwise have been wasted and therefore not used for energy purposes.
JUSTSEN has already five biofuel based boiler systems in operation in the area. The first two boiler systems were commissioned in 2006; they have a capacity of 2 x 15 tonnes/hour of saturated steam and is burning biomass-based residues from palm oil production.
The three remaining boiler systems were commissioned in 2008; they have a capacity of 8.4, 9.0 and 10.0 tonnes/hour of steam, respectively. These systems are running on various residual products from grain companies and wood chips.
The potential in the developing countries for the establishment of biofuel based boiler systems is enormous, and JUSTSEN has proven that they are able to be at the forefront, of development and production of the bigger boiler systems, which are very much sought after in the developing countries, in order to raise their environmental profile.
